Best convention line thus far...

...from Ohio governor Ted Strickland:
You know, it was once said of the first George Bush that he was born on third base and thought he'd hit a triple. Well, with the 22 million new jobs and the budget surplus Bill Clinton left behind, George W. Bush came into office on third base--and then he stole second.
Comments:
Jim,
I am worried about your discourse that you are working yourself up to a hatred previously reserved by liberals for GWB.
Calm down and know that all the "data" you are espousing comes from biased sources and then you carry it to the next level.
Through all of this, God will be sovereign. Amen

Biased sources? Really?

Please tell me which source I should look at to explain John McCain's colossal moral failure in running off on his first marriage when it got too hard and when the mistress could fund his political career.

Please tell me how my "biased sources" are misquoting Republican Senator Thad Cochran's story about McCain's out-of-control temper, and why he's made no attempt to correct the record.

Please tell me which "biased sources" explain McCain's massive moral failure in approving the torture bill.

For that matter, if my sources are so biased, please correct me where you see errors. I'd like you to show me a single thing I've said that isn't based in fact.

When the facts demonstrate that your candidate completely lacks character, integrity, class, consistency, or anything even remotely resembling a moral compass, and those facts check out, you really should start questioning your support of such a monumentally slimy candidate. The fact that he attempts to portray himself as a man of integrity only makes his complete moral failure in public life (and apparently in private life as well) all the more offensive to the conscience.

So, if John McCain is so bereft of moral charachter, then why did BHO, HRC and JB say such nice things about him before they were running against him.
The bile you are spewing shows me that BHO and his supporters are not change at all, but more of the same poison politics we have come to expect...WHERE IS THE CHANGE?
Other than the fact we have a candidate from a major political party who is the most inexperienced in the history of 20th and 21st century politics?

They have to say nice things about him, because he's a colleague. He's no colleague of mine; I can tell the truth about him. And the truth is that every new thing we learn about John McCain is more evidence that he is completely unfit for public life in general, to say nothing of the position of President.

And looking at what one of the most experienced White Houses in history, the Bush White House, got for us, it looks like we need someone who isn't caught up in the corruption. That isn't going to be John "Four More Years" McCain.

This "bile" of which you speak are the facts. You have yet to dispute even one of the things I've reported; you have yet to point out exactly where I'm wrong. If the facts point to a candidate completely bereft of character, the problem is not with the facts but with the candidate. My putting those facts on display - something the supposedly-liberal media seems to have no interest in doing - is not bile, but truth-telling. If you don't like the truth about John McCain, perhaps you should consider withdrawing your support from him.

Nevermind, Jim.
